Wordwide Candlelighting for Children Who Have Died 12/9/2012

Held annually the second Sunday in December, The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting® unites family and friends around the globe as they light candles for one hour to honor and remember children who have died at any age from any cause. As candles are lit at 7 p.m. local time, creating a virtual wave of light, hundreds of thousands of persons commemorate and honor the memory of children who have died in a way that transcends all ethnic, cultural, religious, and political boundaries. Last year more than 500 Worldwide Candle Lighting services covering all 50 states plus Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico were listed on The Compassionate Friends national website. In addition, information on services were submitted from 24 countries outside the United States. December 14 there will also be a Remembrance Book on The Compassionate Friends national website where you can post a message to honor the memory of a child, sister or brother, or grandchild. If you are unable to attend a service, we encourage you to light a candle for one hour at 7 p.m. no matter where you may be. For more information, visit www.compassionatefriends.org. We do this . . . that their light may always shine®. (Song is Precious Child by Karen Taylor-Good, written for The Compassionate Friends and available on CD at www.compassionatefriends.org)

Visit the website for information on ceremonies in Middletown, Northford, Old Saybrook and Waterbury.
