This month The Cove would like to spotlight one of our amazing Camp Compassion volunteers, Hasson Stavis!

Hasson has been a licensed marriage and family therapist for 20 years and in the mental health field for 28 years in addition to being a non-practicing reiki master. In his private practice, he works with children and families as well as individuals addressing an array of mental health and life challenges. He is a big fan of incorporating nature and holistic life practices to help his clients.

When asked how he led him to start volunteering at The Cove, he replied: "I made a personal commitment to donate some of my time and resources to certain demographics including the homeless, the elderly, and of course children. I was looking for an opportunity that would provide the enjoyment I felt from the direct care work that I had missed since becoming a full-time therapist in private practice."

"One of the most meaningful aspects of volunteering at Camp has been being a safe space for children to practice the extremely difficult art of grieving and handling loss. What I enjoy most is the shared mission and camaraderie between the volunteers as well as witnessing the children process their feelings in real time while also experiencing a form of healing.”

The most meaningful aspect of volunteering at Camp Compassion is watching the amazing human interactions that display love compassion and understanding for each other and the connections that are formed during the weekend."

We are so grateful to have Hassan as part of our Cove family!  Thank you, Hassan, for sharing your experiences and talents with The Cove and for providing hope and healing to grieving children!
